And that is where the problem is for many people. Most will have to spend a little more than they want.

Some will say that is crazy. But it’s the quality of audio output you get that matters.

However, from time to time, you can knock yourself into something that is not too costly. This could be one of those lucky times.

The Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro headphones come with every great feature you can expect on the market – at a cheaper price. It might not be the prettiest of headphones on the market, but it will give you an unforgettable service if you look beyond the years.

In this Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro review, I bring you the best features and what the piece can do. Continue reading.

Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro headphones

This Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro review is about what makes the headphones a worthy investment for drum accessories and who should buy them. I have been a fan of incredible headphones and anything high quality for many years.

Here is what you need to know about the DT 990 Pro:

From the box

Do not expect a lot of things to come with these headphones. You will get only a soft carrying case and a ¼- adapter with the headphone.

That is how most high-end headphones come anyway. There are always just the products, but with an incredible performance.

Looks

Have you ever met anyone who wears crocs? I have, and they swear by them.

This is the same feeling you will get with the DT990 headphones. They are just not as hideous if you know what I mean.

The whole piece is almost entirely plastic in terms of construction, except for the metal band on the ear cups.

They are very comfortable. Surprisingly better than some of the much higher-priced products. They feature memory foam padding wrapped in velour, slipping them over your head in a fluffy and plush setup. Perhaps that is a bit exaggerated, but I just want to show you how reliable these bad boys are.

As you may have expected, they are not 100% perfect. Just like everything else that has downsides, there are a few cons you will find in this piece. Mainly, it’s about its build quality.

Since they are majorly plastic, they do not promise a lot of durabilities. Even so, they are flexible, which means you will not have issues flexing them to the right angle. Just don’t throw them in your bag and accidentally sit on them – then, you will be looking for new ones.

Another flaw is that these headphones don’t have hinges. That means you will not be folding them easily, and even the steel headband does not look very durable. Also, the only reinforcement it has is the pleather wrapping that does not exactly show great quality.

I loved the design in terms of comfort. The large ear cups offer just the right amount of comfort. But that is all there is, more like something you would buy for your kids.

I also had issues with the audio cable on this piece. It measures 1m, which is good for stretching, but it seems too heavy. It can be quite easy to accidentally put the headphones on as you move from your desk, which might cost you a replacement.

Far from these small issues, I must commend the way these headphones are designed. They are finished in all-black, which just looks great whether you are a pro or a beginner. The color is then accented by a grey memory form on the ear pads. This adds an extra freshness to the look.

Connection and Sound quality

The connection on the DT990 headphones is quite straightforward. It comes with a cable that connects in 3.5mm. Screw on an included ¼-inch adapter to use in higher-end gear.

The cable comes with a 250 ohms impedance and the most durable connection point.

If you have an issue with the design and build quality of these headphones, you will be glad to listen to their sound quality. Although they didn’t blow me away, they are pretty impressive for their price.

You could get more bass if they reduced the emphasis on the treble sound. Nevertheless, it performs better in the mid-range, with great volume control.

Pros

• Comfortable

• Neutral sound

• Excellent performance in mids and highs

• Affordable

Cons

• Lack of deep bass

• Not the best in build quality

Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro Headphones sound quality

Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro are circumaural headphones with and an open-back design. This provides spaciousness and a detailed tonal depth. In other words, they sound amazing.

You will easily notice their mild bass and treble boost, which promises a great sound.

The bass is not overstated. However, it’s precise, and the powerfully present treble boost comes out without sounding sharp.

In terms of the low-end, I loved how these headphones performed. They are not overblown, or super powerful, but they will give you a decent sound.

I played “Phone Calls” by Jessie Reyes and the detail on the bass was just what I was looking for. It’s followed by the low sub-bass in the chorus, which normally has enough power to make you feel the shake, which was not in this case. There was some punch, not so much bruising, ensuring you get just the right experience.

Whether you are a pro or not, the DT 990 headphones will give you a memorable performance. They since as loud as you would expect any good headphones to – and that is what matters.

Earpads or Ear Cups, what are the best gaming headsets in [currentyear]?

Over the years, I have learned the value of picking the right headphones for your audio needs. A gamer understands that having the right headphones can help you stay behind the screen for a longer time.

Here are features of good headphones:

• Comfort

Choosing the right gaming headphones begins with checking the earpads or earcups. You want to make sure they are very comfortable because you will be using them for an extended period.

The Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro comes with a circumaural design that includes a flexible headband with soft padding and mushy earpads. You can rely on this for comfort. The clamping force is not too weak, and not too strong.

• Price

If you are looking for the best headphones, be ready to invest well. That means most of them are expensive.

Alternatives to the DT 990 Pro

• Sennheiser HD599. This is another pair of headphones that offers critical listening. It has the same sound profile as the DT 990 Pro, only more comfortable.

• Sennheiser HD6XX. This is another open-back pair of headphones that has an even greater sound delivery. However, they are not as comfortable.

• AKG K702. The AKG might lack a bit of the sub-bass compared to the Beyerdynamic, but they are more comfortable, which makes them great for gaming. It also comes with a more open sound and a longer detachable cable.

Also, pick the right brand if you want the best gaming headphones. There are so many manufacturers out there, but not all could be what you are looking for.

Beyerdynamic DT 990 Review: Overview and Features

Generally, the Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro is and an excellent pair of studio headphones. Here is an overview of its features:

• Comfortable design

Beyerdynamic is known for making very comfortable headphones. All their products are highly recommended both for studio and gaming.

The DT 990 Pro features a soft and plush feel. You can feel the difference from other products right from the word go.

• Sound

These are open-back studio headphones that deliver an incredible three-dimensional sound. Its V-shaped sound quality and remarkably strong bass make it the best pick for most users.

• Noise Isolation

Since they are open-back headphones, they do not isolate ambient noise. You may also experience some sound leakage with the headphones at normal volumes. However, I have not heard anyone else complain about this, which sounds great.

Frequency response

These are headphones designed for studio performance. Hence, you can expect great frequency responses compared to other headphones at this price range. They offer less bass, which lay flat when the treble is high.

• Usage

Music lovers can use the Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro headphones for mixing, mastering, and recording. They are good for a wide range of desk setups in the studio.

Also, use the headphones for listening to music, watching TV, and gaming.

They come in two models: Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro 250 Ohms and 80 Ohms. The 80 Ohms is good for several studio applications. They are quite versatile, which also makes them suitable for anyone who needs good sound without spending too much.

• Connectivity

This piece comes with a coiled cable, featuring a 3.5mm jack. It’s therefore compatible with most computers, TVs, smartphones, and other devices. You also get a ¼-inch gold-plated adapter, which you might need when during professional recording. It is not Bluetooth-enabled.

Beyerdynamic DT 990: Conclusion and Rating

Beyerdynamic has been one of my favorite audio brands for many years. I have never seen any of their products come with too many complaints from users. And that is one of the reasons they are trusted.

And now with the DT 990 Pro headphones, you get to feel the power of excellent headphones. They are excellent neutral listing headphones.

You get a lot of detail in high-res tracks. Their spacious soundstage does not only make them comfortable, but good for any user.

Although you will notice they sound a bit sharp sometimes due to the slightly over-emphasized treble, the bass, instruments, and vocals are all in the right ranges.

Unfortunately, these headphones are not very durable. Also, they are not built for portability. They are bulky, and you cannot fold them into a compact format. They may feel a bit too heavy for over-ear headphones.

Rating:

• Mixed Usage – 5.2

• Neutral Sound – 7.9

• Portability – 4.0

• Wired gaming – 6.5

• Office – 4.7

• Sports/Fitness – 5.6

• Built quality – 7.0

These headphones may not give your music that Beats treatment you may be looking for, but they are decent pieces that will not disappoint. They are not meant for commuters due to their open-back.

If you have not to issue with the few downsides discussed, I would recommend you buy these Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro Headphones.
