Franklin Kiermyer was born on 21 July 1956 and is a jazz drummer, composer, and bandleader. He has worked and recorded with some of the biggest names in jazz including McCoy Tyner, Pharoah Sanders, Archie Shepp, Lester Bowie, and Miles Davis. Kiermyer first gained attention in 1994 with his album Solomon’s Daughter, featuring tenor saxophonist and former John Coltrane bandmate Pharoah Sanders.
