Mark Michael Brzezicki or Mark Brzezicki is a rock drummer, who is primarily known for his work with Big Country and is a former member of the groups The Cult, Ultravox, and Procol Harum. He was born on June 21 1957 in Slough, Berkshire, England.
Mark Brzezicki Early Career
Mark Brzezicki had an early session career, drumming for various artists including Al Stewart, Gary Numan, and John Foxx. His first significant success as a drummer was with The Cult between 1982 and 1984, which overlapped with his work with Big Country. Brzezicki left Big Country in 1991 to concentrate on studio work but returned to the band in 1995. He left the band again in 2002 and has since worked with a variety of other artists.
Mark Brzezicki rejoined the Cult onstage at the Royal Albert Hall in London. He joined original members Ian Astbury, Billy Duffy, and Jamie Stewart, with whom he had recorded their Love (1985) album, to perform “The Phoenix” and ” She Sells Sanctuary ” as a second and final encore to a live performance of Love. Mark is a close friend of Josh Phillips and plays drums on most of what Josh writes. They were working together in 1991 in a studio on the Isle of Man (with Simon Townsend) when he got the call from Gary, asking if he’d like to work with Procol Harum.

In 1984, he played drums on the track “Shout” from The Cult’s album, Sonic Temple. In 2004, Brzezicki helped found a new band, Casbah Club, with Bruce Foxton and Simon Townshend. Smash Hits magazine had a running gag in the 1980s wherein they referred to the drummer as “Mark Unpronounceablename of Big Country”.
