Robin Goodridge Early Journey
Robin Goodridge was born on 24 May 1964 in London, England. However, his parents were actually Jamaican immigrants. Robin Goodridge had an interest in music at a young age like most of the people who would become good drummers. He began playing the drums when he was 13 years old and attended Alleyns School. His music career started when he worked in a reggae band called Shama in 1981. He credits that band for the experience in stick playing that helped him in later life.
Growing up, Robin looked up to his older brother Steven, who was a drummer. When his brother left home, he left behind his drum kit. The younger Goodridge saw his opportunity, took the pointers his brother had taught him and learned the rest by trial and error. The Who‘s drummer Keith Moon was a big influence.
After starting his career with Shama, Robin Goodridge joined the band Eruption at the same time they were recording their album On The Rocks. After touring with them for years, Robin Goodridge eventually became a full-time member of the band. In 1989, he left Eruption to join the band Bush.
