Unfortunately, you may not get enough volume if you plug the headphones directly into your phone, or the headphone socket in your laptop. It comes with Sonar works calibration and a safe headroom, which should give you the courage to use the headphones on any modern setup.
Construction
Sennheiser focuses on quality construction, and the save feature is evident in this unit. However, some users have complained that parts start falling off after a few years with frequent use. The headband becomes looser, and the headbands will require replacement.

Sennheiser HD 600 vs 650
The Sennheiser HD 600 is undoubtedly one of the most successful and adored headphones on the market. For many decades, both the 600 and 650 were seen as industry-standard products and a definition of greatness.

In both options, Sennheiser has ditched that nice, large case that carried the HD 600 headphones before. Now they use similar packaging to the Drop X Sennheiser HD58X.
Even so, it still comes with all the accessories you would need to enjoy using them. Both feature a 3 m cable for connecting to the headphone side – but the HD has excluded the 3.5 mm with a thread-on ¼-inch adapter. On the 650 is termination of a ¼-inch and a short ¼-inch to 3.5 mm. Also, I noted that the cable on the 600 is a bit different from what you get on the 650.
Power
Both headphones require a 300 Ohms driver, but the HD 600 features a rating of 97 dB/mW, while the HD 650 is rated as 103 dB/mW. I think most amps will drive these headphones quite nicely.
Build and comfort
The design and build quality of these pieces has remained unchanged over the years, save for a few aesthetic changes. Both are built almost wholly from plastic, but they are quite reliable and durable. I feel the 600 could use more clamps.
These are comfortable headphones, which are a wonderful clamping force for long listening sessions Whether it’s for watching movies or listening to music, this piece will deliver.
Sound
Both HD600 and HD650 are created for a neutral performance. They are mostly similar sonically, as they both produce natural sounds. The bass and the mids and the highs are all well-balanced. But I find the HD650 to offer much more. The left and right channels are well-balanced for greater frequency response.
The sound signature on my reference headphones was everything I expected, although it could use more bass. The treble response is better than what I have seen in other headphones.
Connecting these headphones to a powerful amplifier delivers an incredible sound profile, especially on the treble range. No wonder it’s one of the best preferences for lower price headphones.
Verdict
I got the opportunity to try the HD 600 and the H650 headphones, and I must admit these pieces are good. They both have stood the test of time and remained the most popular headphones under $500.
If you prefer slightly warmer headphones with a fuller bass, consider the HD650. But if you are interested in more tonality with better-defined mids and highs, pick the HD600. The lightweight aluminum voice coils in the ear cups deliver a neutral sound that is a critical listening factor.
Are the Sennheiser HD 650 good?
Yes. The Sennheiser HD650 headphone has been the best home and professional environments for more than ten years. They offer a natural sound, and great bass. They are also tough and durable from the box. Above all, they come at a great price, from a free country, making them a choice for many audiophiles.
However, the HD650 is not a good recommendation for headbangers, metalheads, or drummers. It’s an ordinary choice for everyday use.
Do I need an amp for Sennheiser HD 650?
