Yamaha Dtxplorer Electronic Drum

Yamaha is known for making high-end musical instruments, and they are good at it. Every product they bring on the market is designed to meet the needs of modern drummers.

One such electronic drum is Yamaha’s DTXPlorer in this review.

Yamaha DTXPlorer electronic drum kit

There is denying the electronic drum set is changing the world of drumming. They are portable, versatile, and with more features than acoustic drum sets.

If you are looking to get a Yamaha DTXPlorer electronic drum kit, therefore, but you don’t know where to begin, don’t worry. You have come to the right place.

Is the DTXPlorer really a good kit? This is one of the questions I was asking myself before ordering my review kit.

I found some useful information online, which gave me a good impression of the kit.

One says, “this is one heck of a set for the price point. I hooked my set up to the Yamaha Motif ES keyboard via midi and now have endless drum sounds; I also trigger sample…”

There is no better way of presenting this set in the simplest manner than this. It comes with solid construction and is highly responsive. And yet, it remains one of the most affordable kits of this kind.

Yamaha DTXPlorer parts

Yamaha DTXPlorer electronic drum is a beginner kit that comes with everything you need to start playing, except the drum throne and the sticks. But these are parts you can easily get for your electronic drums.

It should not take you more than 30 minutes to set everything in place and start playing. Even if you have never used it before, or any electronic drum kit, this piece will make you feel like you know everything.

Although the DTXPL is discontinued, it remains one of the most popular electronic drums Yamaha has ever produced.

It’s a five-piece kit featuring a snare drum, three tom-tom pads, a bass drum pad, a hi-hat, and two cymbal triggers.

Another very important part of this drum kit is the DTXPlorer trigger module. This is the brain of the whole setup, which allows you to play your kit with confidence.

It also features a hi-hat controller, a kick pedal, and a condensed rack system that lets you mount everything with ease.

In summary, the Yamaha DTXL comes with a DTXPL trigger module, 5 TP 65 pads, 2 PCY65 cymbal pads, KP65 kick drum pad, FP-6210 bass pedal, RS40 rack system, 32 factory kits, 214 percussion sounds, a MIDI out, and an Aux.

Yamaha DTXPlorer Electronic Drum Set Quality

The pads on the DTXPlorer electronic drums are made from rubber, which would not be the best material, but it sounds quite realistic. Although more expensive pads are better, there is not much to complain about at this price point. Any musician will love DTXPlorer.

In terms of the design, this kit looks great, and it will nicely blend into any environment.

When you hit too hard, it can feel as though the bass drum pad will break. But it will not. I have used this kit for about four months now, and it has not broken or lost its sensitivity.

DTXPlorer is a very portable tool. Fold it into a small size without removing the parts, and you are good to go.

It may not be something I can recommend for use on stage. But if you are looking for an ideal kit to practice on at home, this is what you need.

Another disadvantage is that it does not have choke-able cymbals. You can add them, though, if you want to. Besides, the kit has a connection for an extra pad.

Sound

I was not expecting to get any good sounds from this DTXPlorer, considering the low-price tag. But I was shocked that it really sounded good.

The module has 32 incredible kits that sound awesome. Aside from this, you get 10 slots for creating your own customized sound settings. You can reverb, cut off, and do many other amazing things to create beautiful sounding kits.

If the sound is not good enough, hook it to a drum program and make your dreams come true.

Price

It would have been better if the Yamaha DTXPlorer electronic drums set had choke cymbals for this price. But, since it has better sounds than most of the competition at this price range, it stands out.

Yamaha DTXPlorer manual

It can take you about 30 minutes to set this in place. And since it comes with a manual, you will find everything pretty easy. The DTXPlorer may not sound exactly like acoustic drums, but it’s a great kit from Yamaha.

Pros

• Easy to use

• Multizone upgrades with good accessories

• Affordable with beautiful drums sounds

Cons

• Cymbals are not checkable

• Rubber pads

Verdict

Yamaha makes good musical instruments with high-quality features. The DTXPlorer is no different. This electronic drum set is an excellent choice for drummers of all skill levels who are looking for a high-quality, versatile, and durable electronic drum set.

It offers a wide range of features such as an impressive trigger module for an enhanced rhythm game experience, a variety of preset kits and drum sounds, easy setup and takes down, and various connectivity options. It’s better than any other trigger module I have used.
