Welcome to Zero to drum!
Hi there, my name is Andrea, and I am an Italian guy who has been playing the drums for over 20 years now!
My parents bought me a drum set as a present when I was 8 years old because I got really excited about the idea of playing an instrument and the drums was my dream.
And I loved it so much that I started to practice every day, but I also made a lot of noise. My parents were not happy about it and so they took away the cymbals at first (cause they were too noisy) and then the drum kick, thinking that was enough to stop me from my passion.
But I was so hooked by that drum set for kids, that I played it even without cymbals and kick. I played it so much After a little while, I ended up breaking the whole set because I was so enthusiastic that I played it until it broke.
At that time there was no cheap electric drum set for sale, so I had to stop with my passion for a few years because there was no way to convince my parents to buy another drum set. So I had to wait a few years to get a new drum set.
Here is an old photo of one of these trips my mom sent me the other day:
When I was 14 years old, I convinced my parents to buy another drum set. The main reasons were that we moved into a bigger house and there was a room for me to play and reharsal.
So they bought the best beginner drum set that they could find but it wasn’t for me, it was for my sister. She didn’t play it a lot, but I loved it so much that I started to use it every day.
I’ve found myself pretty good at playing the drums, even at that time I didn’t have a proper technique, and I used to brake a lot of cymbals and drum sticks.
I started practising with some friends, and after a little while, we formed my first band, called Hermano and the Marines. We played some shows in Milan city and nearby, and a few shows in the North of Italy. When I was 18 years old, I started to play with Seditius (Gio Fumagalli, Matteo Pansana, Checcho, Nerchia). With Seditius we recorded 4 albums, and we toured most of Europe and the USA, having a lot of fun, making a lot of friends and playing a lot of shows, from London to Berlin, Amsterdam to Paris, Rome to Athens, New York to Los Angeles.
When we were touring, we met a lot of people and had heaps of fun 🙂 The personal connections and deep friendships born in that period are still super secure, and I miss all my friends from the punk rock community in the USA and Europe.
My Mission On This Site Is To Help You to become a great drummer and make your dream come true!
How I Create Content
I write and approve all the content you will find on this site. Every opinion and all the material I use is provided to you solely for your information and to help you make the best decisions.
I always try to guarantee the highest quality standards, even when I use freelance writers to help me put the articles together. Still, nothing is placed online without my go-ahead as editor-in-chief; this ensures that all published information is accurate and that purchasing decisions can be trusted.
I try to get my hands on all the items mentioned and described in this website, as much as I can, to gain real-life experience with them, but it’s not always possible, so I also rely on extensive online feedback from real customers of these items.
I also spent a lot of time in local stores in my area and talked to their staff to find out about all the products and accessories that come out and which ones might be of interest to you.
In any case, I want this site to be a place you can trust and not be rigged by brand sponsorship, so you can use the information provided to make the best decisions for yourself when it comes to buying drums accessories or related products.
The Dream of Drumming
I always loved drumming, and my passion for the drums is the number one reason why I’ve built Zerotodrum. The second is because I love live music, and I want to support every drummer and musician in the world.
I played more than 200 shows in my life, from empty bars to big venues with hundreds of people. I also organised shows for my bands, friends and international projects.
I’ve met some many incredible people on the way: most of them are amazing, they truly love music and believe in the dream of becoming a famous artist or just have fun and play with their friends.
I believe that everyone can do it. And you can do this!
It’s all about passion and dedication. It’s not always easy, but the best results are the ones that we work hard on! So this is just the beginning, then it’s time to practice, improve and have fun.
I’ve been there, and I did it, so also you can do it!
