Taylor Hawkins drummer of one of my favourite bands ever, Foo Fighters died aged 50 during their South American tour. He died on March 25, 2022, in Bogotá, Colombia.
Dave Grohl, Foo Fighters singer, and ex. Nirvana drummer, said, “His music is infectious laughter that will stay alive forever”.
I feel really sad hearing about his death. I live in Melbourne, and Foo Fighters played here in Australia, in Geelong a few days ago.
I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go to that gig, and I didn’t, cause I already saw them a few times in Milan, when I was living in Italy.
The Foo Fighter’s family has devastated Taylor Hawkins’ tragic death. “His music spirit will be remembered forever”.
In Colombia, at the festival where the Foo Fighters were supposed to perform, news of the death leaked out slowly, Diego Báez, a 33-year-old fan, said.
The concert organisers announced the performance was cancelled for medical reasons at first, but minutes later, fans learned Hawkins died through social media.
Grohl called Hawkins an “unstoppable rock power”. His energy was immense and his scenic presence on the stage was unmatched.
“Some cried. Others were sad, astonished, moved. It was a very powerful moment,” Mr Baéz said. It’s a tragic and untimely loss for rock all music fans.
A screen projected the words “Taylor Hawkins forever” while the Foo Fighters song My Hero played.
I feel sad. If I had known he would pass away I would have gone to see one of my favourite bands playing together for the last time. But life is random, and sometimes unexpected things happen without notice.
He seemed happy and did a great show here in Australia. One of my favourite bands here Amyl and the Sniffers opened their gig in Geelong as main supporters, and it was so exciting to know a local punk band opening for one of the most famous bands in the world.
They were supposed to go on tour together, but I’m not sure if it’s gonna happen now.
