Joe Bergamini – King Of Progressive Rock

Joe Bergamini has grown into one of the most diverse drummers the world has ever seen. He is also an educator who shared his music knowledge with many people. He enjoys a wide range of playing styles but is well known in the world of progressive rock. His work with bands like Happy the Man and 4Front has left many interested in learning from him.

Joe Bergamini has been a familiar face on the New York scene for many years. He has worked on the Broadway productions of Movin’ Out, Jesus Christ Superstar, Rock of Ages, Jersey Boys, and King Lion, among others. His appearance on the first national tours of Movin’ Out and Jersey Boys puts him on the list of some of the most successful drummers.

Joe was the drummer for Power Windows band for 11 years, a band that has been popular in New York City for many years. He has also been a sideman, recording and performing with a wide range of artists. The drummer has achieved international recognition as an educator. He has given many drum clinics in schools, retail stores, and other places for over 15 years.

His appearance at the Ultimate Drummers Weekend in Melbourne, Australia, the Cape Breton Drum Festival in Nova Scotia, Canada, and Sonny Emory Drum Camp in Atlanta, USA, paints him one of the most sought-after drummers.  He has crowned the first drum clinician on the initial Tama Dayz Tour of the US in 2007.  Apart from doing all these, Joe keeps a busy teaching schedule from his NJ studio. And he works as an associate professor at Moravian College in Bethlehem, PA.

Joe has helped many students reach their greatest potential to become the best drummers. Mark Guiliana, who has grown into a world-known pro drummer, is one of Joe’s many private learners. Joe is not only an excellent drummer and educator. He is also active in the world of music publishing. Here, he serves as the Senior Editor for Hudson Music, where he is the overseer of all books and projects.

He also acts in the capacity of an associate producer and has worked on many DVDs.  He has been in touch with many legendary drummers, including Steve Smith, Stanton Moore, Gavin Harrison, Carmine Appice, Keith Carlock, and Derek Roddy. The list is endless.

Joe worked on two big projects with Neil Peart under Hudson Music: Taking Center Stage and A Life of Live Performance. Pert talks about and discusses all the works he has achieved with Rush. The other work is a companion book for the same project. Joe wrote the whole project and released it in 2012. Joe is also a great author who has won three Modern Drummer Readers Poll awards after writing an incredible book.

He wrote Pedal Control, Turn It Up & Lay It Down, MD Classic Tracks, It’s Your Move, Drum Techniques of Led Zeppelin, and many others. He partnered with Hudson Music, who co-founded Rob Wallis to create Drum Guru in 2012. Joe Bergamini has worked with a wide range of drummers, including Steve Gadd, Chad Smith, Mike Portnoy, and Steve Smith, making him an admirable figure.
